Important, please read thoroughly!
Wow, what a great first week of practice! We loved seeing everyone, attendance was
fantastic! That is what we expect to
see, keep up the hard work Orcas! We
have several reminders and some important information for the next month, so
please read through this entire email.
Reminders:
- Code of Conduct and Goal sheets were due this
week, we are missing several, please get those turned in asap. We would prefer not to spend our time
reaching out to everyone individually to get the forms in, so please help us
out by turning them in early next week. - Please make sure your swimmer has the required
equipment everyday at practice. I have
attached the document with pictures for guidance. - Please make sure you familiarize yourself with
Swimtopia, you will use this to declare for meets. You must declare whether you are attending or
not attending by the deadline. Failure
to declare will result in your swimmer not swimming in the meet. - If you are wanting to be a sponsor, please make
sure you have submitted that information as we will be placing our team shirt
order soon. - We need officials! There is a training in Lexington if you are interested. The YMCA will cover the cost. Please see attached information. You can also register through USA swimming to
become certified.
Important Information:
- The meet schedule for KYCSL has been finalized, please see
attached (Blue, Silver, Gold and Platinum swimmers). The Pentathlon meet host has
stated they do not want to host any meets, so that meet is still tentative as
the league decides who will host it and where. - There are currently 4 events/meets that are now
open for you to declare:
1.Sept. 21st @ 1 PM: Car Wash in the
arena parking lot- Please RSVP so we know who to expect. This will be a fun way to get to know your
teammates and make a little bit of money for your team. All are welcome and encouraged to participate! Sign Up Genius to follow.
2. Sept. 26th @ 6 PM: Mock Meet and Pot
Luck at our pool- Please declare whether your swimmer will be attending or not
attending. Make sure you claim the
volunteer position you would like. This
meet is open to all Orca swimmers.
Everyone is encouraged to attend, especially those new to swimming. This will be a good mini-introduction to what
to expect at a meet. A pot luck will
follow the meet. Sign Up Genius to
follow. It will be a great way to begin
to build relationships with the team. (Gold practice will be cancelled this
day. OC has no school on the 27th,
so no need to rush the kids to bed.) DEADLINE TO DECLARE: 9/23/24
3. Sept 28th @ 5 PM: KIYSA Meet at Floyd
Co. (DEVELOPMENTAL ONLY): Please declare whether your swimmer will be attending
or not attending. Make sure you claim
the volunteer position you would like. Meet
information will come as soon as we get it.
(New Blue and Silver swimmers, talk to your coach about possibly attending
this meet if you have never attended a swim meet before. This may be a good meet to gain some
experience.) DEADLINE TO DECLARE: 9/23/24
4. Oct 12-13: Tsunami Fall Invitational at U of L: Please declare whether your swimmer will be
attending or not attending. Make sure
you claim the volunteer position you would like (there are very few for this
meet, this is not typical). Please see
the attached meet information. DEADLINE
TO DECLARE: 9/23/24
- Please make sure you log in to Swimtopia and
declare your swimmers for the upcoming events/meets as soon as possible. The DEADLINE TO DECLARE IS 9/23/24
for all upcoming swim meets. - Calling all NEW parents to volunteer for the
Mock Meet. The Mock Meet was created
with all NEW families (or NEW to volunteering) in mind. The idea is for you to experience what it is
like to volunteer in a meet with the help and support of parents that are experts
before our first big meet when you will be on your own. This meet is for new swimmers AND parents to
learn how a swim meet runs without the added pressure of other teams. If you are new to swimming or volunteering,
please grab a volunteer spot that interests you so we can help guide you.
Thanks,
Your Coaches
