I swam competitively in Houston, TX on a summer league team, high school team and a USA swim team from 4-18 years old. I also played water polo throughout high school and we were State Champs 2 years in a row! I was the head water polo coach and assistant swim coach for a high school team for 4 years. This is my second year coaching for the Orcas and I am excited to take on the role of head coach. I have 2 kids on the team as well, Tiffany and Aiden.
I grew up in Richmond, VA and participated on a summer swim team and two different YMCA swim teams from the ages of 8-18. I have been teaching swim lessons since 2019. This is my second year as an assistant coach. Both my daughter and son are on the Orca swim team.
I’m excited to join the Orcas as a first-year coach! My swimming background includes over 10 years of competitive experience with Highbridge Aquatics (USA Swimming), Tates Creek High School, and my neighborhood team in Kentucky. Swimming has been a big part of my life, and I’m looking forward to sharing that passion with the team. I’m also a proud swim parent — my four daughters, Katelyn, Caroline, Shelby, and Charlotte, are all members of the Orcas. Outside of the pool, I work as a Corporate IT Manager at Baptist Health.
I was a competitive swimmer growing up in my hometown of Lancaster Pennsylvania. I continued to swim as an adult and participated in a master swim program in North Carolina. It was there that I began teaching swimming lessons and worked as an assistant coach for my daughter swim team.
In 1994 my family moved to Kentucky, where I taught swimming lessons at the Northeast Ymca and later to Oldham County YMCA. I have been working for the Y for the last 30 years and even helped coach the orca swim team for four seasons.
I love what I do at the Y and look forward to coaching your kids!
Hi everyone! I've been swimming my whole life, practically since I was in my mom's belly! 😄 Growing up in São Paulo, I swam for Esporte Clube Pinheiros, one of Brazil's top swim clubs, competing in state and city championships. For the past 12 years, I've been a proud Orcas parent, cheering on my daughter Serena and the team. I swim daily and love helping swimmers build confidence, improve their skills, enjoy the water, and make friends. Looking forward to a great season. Go Orcas!
My name is Misty Hodges and I am excited to be joining the coaching staff this year as a strengthen and conditioning coach. I graduated from the University of Louisville with degree in Exercise Science and Sports Medicine. I am also certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. I have used my knowledge to train a variety of clients over the past 20 years, and I am looking forward to helping our swimmers be the fittest and strongest version of themselves.
